FAQ

Do you accept Nursery Education Grants and Childcare Vouchers at the nursery?

Yes we accept both Nursery Education Grants and Childcare Vouchers.

How qualified are your staff?

All of our staff are trained or training towards either NVQ level 2 or 3 in childcare. We aim to exceed the Ofstead national standards for staff ratios.

Do you operate a key worker system?

Babies and young children need time to make special relationships and build up a trust, just like adults. Due to the small group's size in our nurseries, practitioners in each room share the responsibility of key-workers for all of the children in their base rooms, this allows for close yet flexible parent/staff/ child relationships.

How far in advance do I have to book to ensure my child has a place?

Time needs to be given for a child to adequately settle in. However there is no specific waiting period for a child to start, but popular nurseries do tend to fill up quickly, and do have waiting lists so the earlier the better.

Are all your staff CRB checked?

Yes, all members of staff that care for the children and work in the nurseries have been CRB checked.

What are the opening hours for the nurseries?

8am-6pm Monday to Friday (except Bank Holidays), Greenwich 7:30am-6pm.

What happens if my child is ill?

If your child is very ill, due to our duty to protect the health and well being of other children in the nursery, we would ask you to collect your child from the nursery. Children can be given medicine only if it has been prescribed by the doctor. Early Years Childcare adheres to the Department of Health guidelines regarding incubation periods and exclusions. More details of this will be covered at your initial meeting.

Do you have facilities for play outside?

Yes all our nurseries have outdoor play facilities, and children play outside in them every day.

Will I get regular feedback on my child’s progress?

Yes, we fill out daily sheets that we give you when you collect your child, detailing their progress throughout the day, their activities, how much food they ate etc.

I only work mornings is it ok to put my child in your nursery for just a morning session?

Yes, this is fine, you can pick and choose the sessions you want as long as there is availability.

Session Times
AM: 08:00 – 1300
PM: 13:00 – 1800

What happens when a member of your staff is ill?

If a staff member is ill we will ask one of our bank staff for that nursery to cover for them. There are also float members of staff who are capable of working with any age child, and they can cover when necessary.

How do you monitor access to the nursery?

All parents/carers must use either the intercom or the keypad entry system to gain entry to the nursery. No one is allowed access to the building without being acknowledged by a member of staff.

What happens if my child has problems settling in?

We run settling in sessions which increase with length, so that a child can gradually become accustomed to the new routine and surroundings to minimise disruption. If a child still has problems settling in we will discuss this with their parent/carers.

Do you offer discounts for siblings?

Yes we do offer a discount for siblings.

A 10% discount for the eldest child when two children attend the nursery, plus a 5% discount for the second child when three children attend the nursery.
