All of our nurseries are twinned with childcare settings in other parts of the world. This on-going relationship is a fantastic opportunity to exchange knowledge, learn more about other cultures and explore new ideas and to ensure our childcare practice is continually evolving.
The children will benefit from learning from other children all over the world. The whole experience is fun, exciting and enjoyable for everyone taking part.
We have been involved in twinning for over 3 years now, and have found that the whole twinning experience has worked exceptionally well. We take it in turns to send and receive parcels as a way of communicating with peers across the globe. We share stories, photographs, and artwork, which inspire lots of activities and discussions about children in other countries as well as different festivals and events that are celebrated.
An example of our parcel exchange is when our Greenwich nursery received a beautiful gift from their twinned nursery in Italy, which included a letter from the nursery, biscotti, sweets and various other goodies. The nursery had also sent Italian story books, maps, and a CD with pictures of the children participating in various activities; they even showed them how they crush grapes to make wine!
Our Crawley nursery had a very exciting visit recently, when parents from their Dorsten Twin nursery came to visit! The staff showed them round, they took some photographs and they really enjoyed seeing what we offer. The parents were particularly impressed by our messy play and small world’s display.
These are just a couple of examples of the twinning experiences that the children and staff enjoy at our nurseries.
