Children in Haywards Heath to have their poems published!

Wednesday 19 May 2010
Children at our Haywards Heath Nursery are to have their poems published as part of the ‘My First Poem 2010’ competition.

Our 75 place childcare setting in the converted St. Francis chapel has had 24 of its children’s poems selected to be included in a regional book, along with poems by nursery children in surrounding counties.

‘My First Poem’ has promoted poetry and creative writing within schools for almost 2 years by running annual nationwide competitions. Each of these competitions results in a publication of a collection of regional anthologies showcasing the work of today’s school children.

Our Education Coordinator, Bridgit Brown said of the news “It’s fantastic news that a large number of our children at Haywards Heath are to have their first poems published. We are continuously looking at fresh ways to develop literacy and language at our settings and diverse competitions like this really help to do that. ”
