Core Values

At Early Years Childcare we operate using six core principles:

1. To provide high quality care

Girl and carerWe aim to provide high quality childcare. To achieve this we offer all inclusive fees for children; nappies, food, drink are all included, making life simple for you. – No having to make sandwiches every morning!

We view our staff as fundamental in delivering quality care, and we train them to the highest possible standards, with the majority holding qualifications in childcare. We always aim to provide staffing ratios that are above the minimum required by Ofsted.

2. Well structured routines

Young children develop faster when they have a well structured routine to help them through their day.

Children at our nurseries follow daily routines to give them comfort and security, as they understand what is happening, and so reduces their fear of the unknown. This in turn improves their behaviour and increases self esteem.

3. Home cooked, nutritious food

Serving boyWhere possible all our food is prepared on site in the nursery’s own kitchen, using fresh, natural produce, to ensure children have a nutritious and well balanced diet whilst at nursery. Where available chefs source fresh ingredients from local suppliers.

We operate two different menu types; a summer and winter menu, which includes different fruits and vegetables that are in season at the different times of year.

Our menus and staff take into account Medical dietary requirements your child might have.

4. Child centred

All our nurseries are designed around the needs of children, for example our sinks and toilets are lowered to be in the reach of a young child. We don’t operate a rigid environment of learning, but instead allow children to develop at their own speed with guidance from our carers.

Discovery Time – Based on European best practices, especially those from Reggio Emilia, it is designed to encourage children to use all of their senses and to explore and experiment in an environment where there is no fear of failure.

Projects are developed from children’s own interests and ideas, and it encourages them to follow ideas through to the end.

Heuristic Play – Also based on best practice from the continent, this is designed for younger children and enables them to explore every day objects from around the house as well as natural materials at their own pace.

5. Outdoor Play

The garden of our Greenwich nurseryAll our nurseries include a garden, and children play outside every day, in all weathers. Our motto is ‘there is no such thing as bad weather, only bad planning!’

6. Family Grouping

Our family rooms are made up of children who are between two and five years old. As the name suggests the grouping is designed to reflect the realities of family life, where siblings are usually different ages.

Family rooms provide an ideal environment for social and personal development and have advantages for both younger and older children. By operating a Family Room system the number of room changes your child has to make is reduced. This allows children to become more settled in their environment and helps maintain continuity of care.
